Getting to legible

There's the adage, "An idea isn't an idea until it is produced," i.e. until it's made real.

I don't disagree.

But there's a middle step that's just as hard as making ideas real, or having an idea in the first place.

That step is comprehension. Is your idea legible enough

...to be understood as you intend it?

...to persuade others to sign on and embrace it?

It might be a matter of finessing a few words.

It might mean building a prototype.

It might mean considering politics.

What's not at stake here, at this juncture, is perfection.

Consider legibility a midway point between inspiration and shipping. This isn't a resting point -- it's a time for clarity.

All we care about here is ensuring we have an idea that's legible enough to sway energy and enthusiasm behind us, before we carry our idea into production.
