Renaissance Man - Philip Brunelle and Music

Podcasting is hard work. At least, that's been my experience.

And now the effort shifts from launching to sustaining.

A couple weeks ago I launched "Renaissance Man - Philip Brunelle and Music," a podcast interview series with my Dad that connects the dots across all kinds of music - especially choral, church and opera, with the arts, non-profits, entrepreneurialism, education, and travel around the world. In each episode of Renaissance Man I interview my Dad on a singular topic. Choral Conducting, for instance. Or running an opera company.

Episode 01 is focused on education -- specifically my Dad's musical education, e.g. How a musician becomes one. We talk about being a boy soprano performing at age 4, about requesting and receiving (at age 6) a vocal score of Handel’s Messiah for Christmas. We talk about his piano teachers and organ teachers and the influence they’ve had on an extensive career. We also talk about the state of music education here in America as well as around the world.

Tomorrow we begin recording material for Episode 02, which will focus on what it means to be a Choral Conductor. But in the meantime, here's Episode 01. (Or subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher/Deezer or Google Play.)

Enjoy.
