What a powerful notion: “We're leaving.”

I suspect that every single presidential election has triggered some thought and even action somewhere towards seceding from the whole of the United States.

“To hell with the majority!”

Yes, some people are angry and they're not going to take it anymore.

Until, of course, the people behind the notion actually try to secede.

That's where a notion, any idea, is tested, isn't it?

The same scenario plays out when brands announce a new manifesto, when artists announce a new project. From politics to art to commerce: Talk is cheap. Doing is expensive. Sustaining even more laborious.

How firmly do you believe in your idea? How committed are you to making it more than a bark in a blog post, a concept sketch on the whiteboard, or one press conference? I'm not debating or even entertaining the merits of seceding here. I'm happy with the election and the U.S. of A as it stands. Granted, if someone can foment a better expression of democracy and make it a viable reality, all the power to them.
